A burning pain behind the breastbone, pulling up from the stomach, acid burping or coughing are all characteristic symptoms of heartburn. An estimated 20 million people in Germany suffer from heartburn. If you are also affected, you can find out here how you can finally stop the annoying heartburn. You will be surprised how easy it is!
Often the symptoms occur mainly at night and are in most cases already chronic. One of the classic solutions of conventional medicine is the administration of so-called gastric acid blockers. These proton pump inhibitors prevent stomach acid from being produced. Since it is precisely this stomach acid that is responsible for heartburn, this step – for now – is understandable. However, it is more a symptom than a cause treatment and above all it is not a long-term solution, as the stomach acid is not the causal problem. Gastric acid is responsible for the burning sensation, but not because there is too much gastric acid. The cause of heartburn is that the sphincter muscle to the oesophagus does not work properly. This means that stomach acid can get into the oesophagus and cause a painful burning sensation.
The amount of acid in the stomach is not the problem. This is clear from the fact that people with little stomach acid are particularly prone to heartburn. This is the case, for example, with older people who produce less gastric acid due to their age, but who suffer from heartburn more often than average.

Since the treatment of symptoms does not lead to the desired success, a causal treatment is much more recommendable.
Among the most common causes of heartburn are fats and oils contained in meat and fish. Coffee, cigarettes, sugar, lemon or mint also worsen the symptoms. Animal milk products and gluten, which are intolerable for the body anyway, should be avoided. You can find out which food is responsible for your heartburn through an exclusion procedure.

However, drugs such as beta-blockers for blood pressure problems, nitroglycerine or painkillers can also be the reason why the sphincter muscle does not work properly. If you are taking one of these medications and are suffering from heartburn all the time, you should consult your doctor and tell him about your problems. Whether there is a possible connection between your medication and heartburn can be found out very well with the ART method according to Dr. Klinghardt.

As already mentioned, a lack of stomach acid, paradoxical as it may sound, can be responsible for heartburn. If this is the case, it is necessary to stimulate the formation of gastric acid and the protective layer of the stomach. Herbs such as Swedish or bitter herbs are suitable for this. Gentiana Magenglobuli from Wala or Absinthum from Nestmann can also help. Apple vinegar before eating can also provide relief. If these gentle methods do not lead to the desired success, gastric acid can be supplied directly with HCl betaine, preferably in combination with pepsin.
However, if you suffer from stomach ulcers, the symptoms may even worsen. Therefore this possibility should be clarified in advance.

However, a mechanical cause can also be a reason for heartburn.
If the stomach is too full, it is possible that the muscle above the stomach simply can no longer withstand the great pressure. Eating less can already help. A hernia in the diaphragm, a so-called hiatus hernia, could be another possibility. The diaphragm separates the stomach from the other organs, and a hernia can cause the stomach to slide up.
Tension in the abdominal and diaphragmatic area can also cause pressure to be exerted on the stomach. This is where LNB therapy is very helpful.
In the abdomen, an inflammatory lymphatic adhesions, a radiopaedema, can cause pressure in the stomach. If you have pain when tying your shoes, for example, we can find out in practice whether such a lymphatic adhesion is present. If this is the case, it can be treated with the Sophia Matrix therapy.

If you have already tried the usual methods and the possible causes have been eliminated, but the symptoms are still present, there is the possibility of a gastroscopy. A gastroscopy involves looking through the esophagus into the stomach to rule out stomach ulcers or cancer.

A quick relief of the symptoms can be achieved by raising the headboard from your bed, for example. To do this, simply place 2 bricks or 2 thick books under the legs of the bed frame at the head. The stomach acid will run down in this way. Soda is also a possibility in acute cases, just dissolve a teaspoon in 200 ml water. However, you should never take baking soda directly after a meal, but a waiting period of one hour is sufficient.

There are many simple ways to treat heartburn. If you follow these tips, you should not have any more problems with the nasty burning sensation in the future.
