Anyone who doesn’t have problems sleeping probably doesn’t worry too much about choosing the right pillow. As long as you don’t have any pain, sleep well and wake up refreshed, that’s absolutely right. However, many people have pain in the neck or back, which negatively affects the quality of sleep. If you are one of them, you can learn more about our recommended neck pillow in this article, which can work wonders.

Why the right pillow is important

The neck pillow feels good on the outside, has a good feel, is pleasantly soft and yet sufficiently hard. You may be wondering what difference a particular pillow can make in terms of your sleep quality. Basically, there are three different positions in which we sleep – the supine, lateral or prone position. Of course, there are all kinds of theories about how we should sleep best, but each person is individual and feels comfortable in a different position. For example, there is a theory that it is best to sleep on your back without a pillow. For some people this works very well, for others not at all. So before we try to force ourselves to fall asleep in a certain position, we should think about how we can best support our body in our chosen sleeping position. Because what counts in the end is a pleasant and restful sleep, which is not interrupted by pain.

The spine, especially the cervical spine should generally not be inclined during sleep. It needs special support. If the pillow is too hard or too soft, the cervical spine may be overstretched or bent, depending on the position. In the long term, this situation can lead to incorrect pressure on the blood vessels and nerves, causing the body to produce histamine and nitric oxide. A consequence of this can be, for example, the swelling of the nose at night. The breakdown of nitric oxide in the body can also cause a chronic deficiency of vitamin B 12, which in turn is responsible for chronic fatigue and tension. Apart from that, a wrong pillow can cause incorrect tension in the neck as well as back muscles. This can lead to chronic tension.

The composition of the pillow

The neck pillow from Newentor is built in two layers. It consists of a hard side, which is made of a solid foam. The opposite side is soft and is made of memory foam. Depending on your needs, you can choose the more comfortable side on which to sleep. No matter how you turn or twist, the pillow always maintains its position and supports the head in all directions. As soon as you take your head off the pillow, it returns to its original shape. This great feature ensures that the neck is optimally supported at all times.

The right size of the pillow

The main factor in choosing the right pillow is the size. The manufacturer recommends a certain size of the pillow depending on body weight and size. However, it is also important to know in which position you sleep most of the time. If you sleep mostly on your side, you will most likely need a higher pillow, as the distance between your shoulder and head will be greater and will need to be compensated for. On the other hand, if you sleep more on your stomach or back, you will need a flatter pillow. Some stomach sleepers even don’t need a pillow at all. You have to try this out individually.

Materials and ingredients of the pillow

With a pillow, it is very important that it remains as germ-free as possible. This means that no mites, bacteria or fungi should settle in the pillow. Unfortunately, this is often the case with a composition of natural materials, so they need to be washed and cleaned much more often. Mites can cause allergies, which negatively affect sleep, as well as health, which should not be underestimated.

For these reasons, the cushion of Newentor is made of plastic grass, certified with the Oeko-TEX seal as well as the CertiPUR seal, is free of harmful substances, plasticizers or other harmful components.

Price-performance ratio

The cushion is currently available for about 50 euros and in our opinion corresponds to a good price-performance ratio. The different sizes available make the pillow suitable for the whole family. However, we recommend it especially for people with problems in the cervical spine and neck muscles.

If you’ve been thinking about buying a new pillow and want to improve your sleep quality and health, be sure to try this neck pillow!
