Women between the ages of 35 and 50 are affected by the menopause. But what does the menopause actually mean? The main thing that happens during the menopause is a hormonal change in the body that leads from the fertile to the non-fertile years. In this article you will learn what happens in your body during this time and how you can alleviate possible symptoms.

Hormones in the female body

During the change from the fertile to the non-fertile years of a woman, the production of the corpus luteum hormone progesterone gradually decreases and ovulation occurs less frequently. After ovulation, a shell of the egg is always left behind, which is surrounded by the so-called corpus luteum. This is responsible for the corpus luteum hormone. The corpus luteum hormone is responsible for many different processes in the body and is the basic building block of the sex hormones. Progesterone plays a major role in the fertile phase and has the property of making the mucous membrane formed by estrogen fertile. For comparison, you can imagine a house built under the mucous membrane and progesterone as an interior decoration. As soon as it is clear that there is no pregnancy, the mucosa is rejected by the body, the progesterone decreases and the estrogen increases. In the first half of the cycle the body builds up new mucous membrane again and ovulation takes place. This is the constant rhythm in a woman’s body.

The beginning of the menopause

Over time, however, depending on type and genetics, from the age of 35 onwards, it is possible that ovulations occur less frequently. This does not mean, however, that the woman can no longer become pregnant. In most cases, the onset of menopause is not noticed until the end of the 40s, when progesterone is barely produced and possible symptoms occur.

There are women who show symptoms, but also women who do not actually notice the menopause at all. These include about one third of all women. In this case the body itself manages to create harmony between the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Another third of all women experience mild symptoms such as night sweats, headaches and a few more caused by the imbalance between a lack of progesterone and the remaining estrogen that is normally produced. The last third of all women suffer from severe symptoms and often no longer feel like themselves. In this case, supportive treatment is essential for those affected.

Helpful means during the menopause

1. Homeopathic complex remedies

Homeopathic complex remedies can help with a lack of progesterone to stimulate the remaining cells to produce more of this hormone again, or to calm the cells with the frequency of the remedy. In this way the balance of the hormones is restored and symptoms are reduced. However, not every woman can take every drug, this must be tested individually. In our practice we have had good experience with the Alchemilla vulgaris mother tincture from DHU. There are several other good remedies from well-known manufacturers.

2. Herbal medicine

By means of yam root and soy isoflavones, as well as red clover, grape silver candles and monk pepper, the menopause can be positively influenced. These herbs serve the receptors, but caution is advised during treatment. Some of the herbs have the function of a phytoestrogen, i.e. they may act like an estrogen. This process is as dangerous as taking synthetic hormones. In order to bring peace of mind in case of mild symptoms caused by the menopause, the use of herbs can still be recommended and helpful.

3. Hormone replacement therapy according to the Rimkus method

Taking synthetic hormones is dangerous because they cannot interact with the body’s own proteins. Especially not with the so-called sexual hormone binding globulin from the liver. This is a very specific protein that binds to progesterones and estrogens. This process produces a bound hormone which is important for the body. Contrary to the widespread belief that it is a storage hormone, it is in fact the only hormone that can pass through cells. Ninety percent of the hormones in the body are bound and only ten percent free. Free hormones are produced in the ovaries and adrenal gland, transported to the liver and bound there. This property must be preserved. The best known option is treatment with human identical hormones. The hormones to be taken are produced in the pharmacy and are 1:1 identical to the body’s own hormones. These can cause neither damage nor side effects in the body. The best known therapy is the Rimkus method according to Dr. Rimkus, leading researcher and developer of hormone therapy in Germany. The book “The Rimkus Method for Women” by Dr. Volker Rimkus is available. To find a therapist in your area, you can find a suitable practice in the therapist search at www.hormon-netzwerk.de. Before treatment, it is important to have a blood test with evaluation in an excellent laboratory in order to be able to adjust the individual hormone capsules as exactly as possible to the physical needs.

If you suffer from moderate to strong symptoms as a result of the menopause, a therapy could help you. This can improve the quality of life enormously and put the menopause in the shade.
