Many people who suffer from cat allergy have nothing against cats and would like to have one in their home. But as soon as they are in a room with cats or are somewhere where cats have been before, their nose suddenly drips, their eyes water and breathing becomes more difficult. These are typical signs of allergy. These symptoms may also occur in association with other animal species, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, donkeys, and horses. In dogs, such allergies occur rather rarely. In addition, other allergies such as hay fever can also play a role. What is the main trigger for cat hair allergy and how you can get rid of it, you will learn in this article.

What happens in the body during an allergic reaction?

Cat hair and saliva contain proteins and enzymes that activate the immune system of the mucous membranes in case of allergy. The immune system has the task of scanning the foreign protein that comes at us from outside and deciding whether it is malignant or not. The immune system then initiates appropriate reactions in case the foreign protein is a bacterium or a virus. Mast cells begin to produce histamine, which in turn is responsible for swelling. In the presence of swelling depending on the area, more mucus or tears are then produced, leading to the typical allergic symptoms such as runny nose and watery eyes. Sneezing and swelling of the bronchial tubes to the point of asthma also result from the excessive production of histamine. In case of cat dander allergy, the immune system completely overreacts.

What are the treatment options?

In conventional medicine, desensitization is usually carried out in the case of such an allergy, which means that the affected person is repeatedly administered the allergens in increasing doses over a long period of time in order to accustom the body, so to speak, to the substances that are harmless to humans.

Another option is to avoid cats. However, this is not always and everywhere possible for those affected and therefore not necessarily an option.

Where does cat dander allergy originate?

The origin of an allergy is in the gut and is related to how we eat. Cat dander allergy is triggered by the consumption of dairy products in about eighty percent of cases. Gluten is also responsible for the problems to a lesser extent.

When dairy products are consumed, the proteins they contain are permanently scanned by our immune system and these proteins can enter the lymphatic system undisturbed. This process in the body is important for infants because they can take over their mother’s immune system through her milk, as it is attached to the milk molecules. It is therefore a kind of nest protection. The process, which is good for the smallest among us, is actually no longer necessary and rather unsuitable for adults. Basically, we adults should not consume dairy products from foreign species such as cows, sheep or goats. The lymphatic fluid, which is located throughout the body, distributes the proteins everywhere. So if you constantly consume dairy products, for example milk for breakfast, yogurt, cheese and other products, you keep your immune system on constant alert so that it reacts more and more to foreign proteins. This can also cause the cat hair allergy. The only effective way is to avoid all dairy products. For a cat dander allergy, it takes about four to five months to be free of symptoms; for a pollen allergy, it usually takes about a season. In addition to avoiding dairy products, which slime the lymphatic fluid, it is important to have good lymphatic flow so that enzymes can flow well. This is achieved by drinking enough good, still water.

Last but not least, it helps to detoxify environmental toxins such as aluminum, glyphosate, mercury, lead and cadmium, which we constantly ingest and which are deposited mainly in connective tissue. These toxins disrupt the immune system, causing it to overreact as well.

The main cause of cat dander allergy is the consumption of dairy products. As long as you consistently avoid them, you can conquer your allergy without medication and nothing stands in the way of cuddling with the sweet furry noses.
