Chalk teeth or “MIH” (abbreviation for molar incisor hypomineralization), means that there is insufficient mineralization of the molars and frontal teeth. More and more children suffer from this disease, in which their teeth crumble away, so to speak. The teeth discolor easily and break off under normal biting pressure, such as when eating. This happens because the teeth are not mineralized enough. It may be the milk teeth, but it is much more tragic when this affects the permanent teeth. What causes chalk teeth and how to treat the disease, you will learn in this article.

What are the causes of chalking teeth?

There are some basic causes that need to be identified and addressed when chalky teeth are present.
In most cases, the errors begin during pregnancy. In the womb, conditions are then already present which ensure that the mineralization of bones and teeth causes problems. In such cases, the body must assess where it needs to work well. The teeth then often fall by the wayside.

The following problems during pregnancy can be responsible for chalky teeth:

1. insufficient supply of vitamin D: it is essential that the mother takes care of a sufficiently high vitamin D level during pregnancy. Vitamin D levels should be 80 to 100 nanograms per milliliter. If this is too low, the entire absorption of calcium into the body cannot function optimally. Thus, the child also does not receive what it should receive. In addition, vitamin K2 must be present in sufficient quantities so that the calcium can be transported and arrive where it is supposed to work. Magnesium is also very important for the metabolism of calcium and is therefore part of the basic supply.
Most expectant mothers pay attention to their diet and health, but unfortunately the vitamins are also quickly withdrawn from the body through overacidification. Hyperacidity is caused by all animal foods such as meat, fish, eggs and dairy products. We therefore recommend a plant-based diet as far as possible.

2. during pregnancy, the mother may be exposed to certain radiation that interferes with the baby’s optimal cell development. This includes, above all, radiation from mobile communications, such as WLAN, the smartphone and other electronic devices. These have an effect on the unborn child and its development, as the cells and body structures can be disturbed. During pregnancy, it is therefore particularly important to switch off the WLAN at home if possible and to connect the smartphone to a network cable when in use. Turning on the flight mode on the smartphone also helps to avoid unnecessary radiation. Another way to protect the baby outside the home is a protective belt for the baby’s belly, which protects the unborn child from radiation due to the metal mesh it contains.

3. toxins: heavy metals and light metals such as aluminum, mercury or lead can also be a cause of chalky teeth, but these are rarely the triggers. However, the following substances are much more common: glyphosate and plasticizers in plastics. These two are most likely the main causes of chalky teeth.
The solution here is: Stop using plastic! Neither water, food, nor cosmetics from plastic bottles should be used. These often contain the substance bisphenol A – a real plague. This substance prevents the mineralization of teeth. Caution is also required here when coming into contact with sales slips: Plasticizers are used in the thermal printing process for sales slips. A cashier as an example should therefore wear gloves to prevent absorption of the toxic substances through the skin. Once the substance has been absorbed, it is detoxified by the child in the womb. This is a natural process, so it is necessary to avoid ingesting plasticizers and other toxic substances. There are ways to detoxify them, both in the mother and later in the child.

Glyphosate is an agricultural herbicide used to kill weeds. This has long been the subject of criticism and the WHO has already classified it as partially carcinogenic. Nevertheless, its use in agriculture may be limited. Glyphosate binds minerals, which means you absorb minerals through your diet, but they don’t stay in your body. The solution here is: Detoxification!

If you have children who suffer from chalky teeth, the above measures can bring an improvement. It is important to check if the child needs vitamins to build up or if, for example, a detox would be useful. Once the causes are under control, one can try to save the remaining teeth. Unfortunately, nothing can be done with teeth that are already damaged.
